This was the second iteration of Allay Alight. This time, there was an actual paper line gesturing through the “stage” that was over 100 feet long and the audience was free to move around freely.
The original version, Allay Alight, was performed at the Berkeley Art Museum in 2011. This solo performance occurred in the same physical space as Untitled Object “Runcible” or the Performable Square. by James Lee Byars The first line of paper laid out for his performance acted as the structure for Wiegmann’s work some 38 years later. As an alterable and transportable piece, later iterations include a Trio at the Camden Arts Centre in London, at the center line of a soccer field and along the East River in New York City.
